6th Intercontinental Online Chess Championship for Prisoners: India wins double gold, Mexico triumphs in men’s section

Must be lekka to commit crime and get sponsored by tax payers and win trophies & accolades..
How were they sponsored? The article did not mention anything about sponsorships. I assume you realise it was an online tournament? Letting them play chess and keep out of trouble seems like a very good idea, or would you rather have the prisoners take part in prison gang related attacks and killings?

Action? Chess game? Did someone get shanked?

Let’s have a look at how the action unfolded on the final day of the competition.

Like the hunger games... just call it The Shanking games...

FIDE is probably the most incompetent "sport" federation out there. No mention of the players, their ratings or the games. Just it happened and now it's over.

This is like saying the boks vs all blacks b teams played and boks won without mentioning even the score.

Playing chess is great for prisoners. Low cost and can be very time consuming.

You can follow FIDE rated games live, and see the results, individual players' names and their FIDE ratings. So perhaps a bit harsh to bomb on FIDE for this.

Maybe these prisoner tournaments are handled differently for various reasons, ek weet nie.

Exactly that is the standard, yet here there's non of that.
