Cape Town raising bus prices by up to 50%

I thought Myciti was supposed to be a revolutionary service to help the most poor, a 50% increase is not going to go down well.
Maybe if they spent less money on white elephant infrastructure they could make the cost more affordable.

In Lansdowne they are building this mega project aerial turning circle system just for the buses, it’s such ridiculous overkill the only thing I can think of that motivated it’s construction was kickbacks. Also trying to have dedicated bus lanes on near every route along with fking up every traffic light intersection to facilitate them just seems ridiculous. First make the bus system profitable and feasible then make a few of the most popular routes with space for it have dedicated lanes. They have created a mess all the way from Lansdowne to Claremont main road trying to make a dedicated bus lane, at huge cost and inconvenience.

Exactly, the article even states it.

Not sure how people expect the city to just absorb that cost.
The dumb DA shitty should not have thrown billions of rate payers money at a project that is dependent on handouts from the state to make it cost feasible. This is just another dumb DA socialist failure. The DA and its socialism is not sustainable. Let the prices rise!

Nothing the dumb DA does can ever be the DA`s fault. All DA failures are auto flagged to be ANC failures. Very convenient for the dumb DA.
