anyone else get this whatsapp update to do backups to whatsapp cloud ?

[icantchooseone]

if yes are you using it or still using Google backups ?

In Google we trust. I don't see the benefit of trying to do this with WhatsApp, when you'll hit that limit and then be forced to buy another data storage plan.

I haven't gotten the prompt yet.

Depends on how big your backup is innit?

I wonder if you can change your cloud storage at a later date if you select Whatsapp now?
The benefit of using Whatsapp for backups probably means you will never lose your backups if you don't restore properly or bungle moving between Android/iOS

Will be interesting if WhatsApp / meta adds a temp transfer one, where you get backup for 24h or something so you can transfer to a new device.

For most the Google drive storage will be cheaper / better, unsure about icloud benefits, but WhatsApp one is R29pm, Google 35 for 100GB, and Google one can be used for other things. Here in Austria, Google drive is slightly cheaper.
