How to watch BBC iPlayer in South Africa?

[Werner1975]

I can confirm it works with a VPN. As for the licence, you have to lie and say you have one. Thats about it. Obviously you will have to register to use the service.

A VPN with UK servers is usually the first step, but BBC iPlayer can still detect and block VPN connections. You may also need a compatible device or the UK app store region to install the app, as it is not officially available in South Africa. A UK TV licence is legally required to watch BBC iPlayer, and you should not claim to have one if you don't. Even with a VPN, access isn't guaranteed, so check the BBC's official terms before subscribing to any service.

No, they don't do that. But their bot acts suspicious if using the free VPN servers sometimes. (In both my examples, using Windscribe.)

It's believed being allowed due to people in the UK also using the VPN's, remember people also use them for privacy and some security. So no quick-fix way to determine who's legit.

No. Works fine.
Best not to have just registered here and start giving advice base on guesses, don't you think...

So now you're giving moral instructions?

@Cosmik Debris is that you?

About the license thing - on face value it is lying, but much of their content is available (or becomes so) elsewhere online.
So a personal issue if it should trouble one or not.
