Courier Guy founder responds to luxury estate hostile takeover allegations

A small bit of constructive criticism for the writers.
When I've just read 300 words and I know everything except what the article heading is actually about I stop reading out of annoyance. The little details about his beginning etc. is cool, but maybe leave those to the 2nd part of the article to flesh out the narrative.

Nobody noticed his family has 150 votes
Hopefully that's not 1 per family member lol.

What they have forgotten about is that special resolutions and planning is not done based on the number of votes in an estate in total, but rather by number of votes at the meeting provided the meeting was quorate.

So he could come there with his 60 houses and control the vote, as generally every estate meeting I've attended is generally very poorly attended.

Lesson, make sure your meetings are well attended by your owners.

Surprised they even named TCG in the headline rather than going with a more vague yet descriptive like

"How much do you need to earn to stay at the luxury Eagle Canyon Golf Estate?"

How Voting Works Under the STSMA:
  • Voting in Value (Participation Quota / PQ): As laid out in Section 6(6) of the Sectional Titles Schemes Management Act 8 of 2011 (STSMA), the default and primary method for calculating votes in a body corporate is in value. Each member's vote is calculated based on the total participation quota (PQ) of the sections they own (which corresponds to the size of their unit).
  • Voting in Number: Under Section 6(7) of the STSMA, when votes are counted in number, each member has one vote—regardless of how many units they own or the size of their sections. [1, 2]
