Very sad to hear of this. Condolences to the families and friends. Will post news articles as they become availalbe.

An experienced open-water swimmer was fatally attacked by a shark while swimming with her regular morning group off KuGompo City’s Orient Beachfront on Tuesday.

Witnesses told the Dispatch that members of the group became aware the woman was in distress and realised she had been attacked by a shark.
They rushed to her aid and helped bring her back to shore.

The woman lost consciousness during the rescue, and attempts were made to resuscitate her while emergency services were called to the scene.

Buffalo City Metro has since confirmed the shark attack and announced the closure of Orient Beach and Eastern Beach until further notice.
“Members of the public and all beachgoers are hereby advised that Orient Beach and Eastern Beach have been closed until further notice, following a serious incident reported at Orient Beach this morning,” the municipality said.
“Beachgoers are urged to exercise extreme caution and to refrain from entering the water at the affected beaches.”

The municipality said warnings were also being issued at other beaches and urged the public to remain vigilant and comply with safety instructions.
Authorities were at the scene, and further updates would be issued as information became available.

I'm sure the sharks won't migrate to waters beyond those beaches.

Can't read the article but how do they know it was a Great White? Sure it's possible but I would have thought Bull Shark would be top of the suspects list in that area.

Nothing happened at eastern beach.
Well eastern beach is right next door. The immediate threat of another attack in the area is real, however likely or unlikely. They probably want to monitor the animal and wait for the turbid water to clear.
