Audi goes from hero to zero in South Africa

they all want to go upmarket, SUV's at glorified mark up, massive extra profit.
All most people need is an A3 4 door.
The problem being the lie being sold that an SUV is what you need...and people are lapping it up.
Chinese etc are cheaper...for now.

They're expensive to buy and maintain, plus due to shyte roads they're the wrong cars for Africa.

I have no personal experience with Audi, but know two people who had major gearbox failures (one just days inside the warranty period). Nothing kills brand loyalty like expensive mechanical failures in a premium brand! Our parking area is filling up with SUVs from all those other makes.

About 7 years ago my old mans Q5 developed an issue with it's mechatronic unit inside the gearbox, just a faulty temperature sensor. Maybe a month out of warranty. Audi SA wanted R80k to put a new mechatronic unit in, despite the fact that it's a known latent defect in the gearbox. We complained to Germany who instructed Audi SA to change it at their cost.

Same exact story, but I think recently they may have become less responsive to calls from headquarters. Either way it leaves a very bad taste...
