South Africans could be paying R296.25 less per tank of petrol

“The GFL revenue alone is R80 billion. We’ve got to find a way of phasing it out, but in doing so, we will lose about R80 billion,” Godongwana explained.

“We must then determine how we are going to close that gap — that’s a discussion we will likely need to have.”
Oh geez, I thought the answer was obvious. Stop eating you moron. The actual tax we pay on petrol is a lot more than that.

"We must then determine how we are going to close that gap — that’s a discussion we will likely need to have."
So, take from Peter to pay Paul, in other words, "we need to find a way to tax more people, not just vehicle operators".

Under $12k I.e... Under R200k at the current exchange rate. Brand new.

I'd buy one cash for that the moment it landed in our showrooms. If that's tomorrow, then I'd be there the moment the dealership opened, and I'd be driving out with one in a couple of hours.

Can you even imagine what that type of value in personal transportation could do for our country? Screw the car manufacturers here. They've been dragging ass. The pros outweigh the cons by far. Our leaders might be talented around a tender or a bottle of Shivas; But where and when it matters for the official positions they're squatting in - All they're any good at is kicking cans down the road.

It was always obvious that eventually, with a bit of scaling, electric would become cheaper than ICE. Cheaper to run. Cheaper to service. And cheaper to buy. And we're entering that era now. (Where local policy allows people to benefit from it...)

Interior looks nothing like a VW and don't think VW will allow it outside Chinese market:
