Wow, by yesterday afternoon I had 40mm in Pinetown. Definitely rained more at our offices in Musgrave.

We only had another 3mm overnight. At least I do not need to top up my pool with municipal water, after yesterdays rain its sitting 6cm below the coping tile.

El Nino has less effects on cold fronts and cutoff lows, which originate in the South Atlantic. Drought is more likely over the interior of SA. So far the effects have been limited:
