Because I don't spend a lot of money on a cellphone? Strange logic.

I don't see the point in a console. I've had multiple ones in the past and I return to PC gaming every time. The whole ecosystem doesn't appeal to me at all - especially when they make it more expensive than a more capable PC.
You've not seen the price of pcs that would be comparable now it seems.

The problem is utility. R25k+ for a machine that ONLY plays games and nothing else, plus it's usually not backwards compatible with games from previous console gens

Just get a gaming laptop/PC at that point. At least you can do other things on it. And Steam is a breeze and absolutely huge!
Xbox has been backwards compat for decades.

Both Xbox and PS are very backwards compatible now…and that’s a very good reason to stick around.

If you move to PC you lose EVERYTHING.

Also I bought a console to play games…why on earth should it do other stuff?

If you are a console gamer then PC gaming is an abomination in frustration.
Not really every time I want to play on console update, wait for that game to finish oh the other one wants updates.

I would be willing to pay for what it is, if it costs around a mid range gaming PC maybe R15 - 20k then its a good deal much more and it's worthwhile for me to go back to PC gaming.
That's not a midrange pc price anymore, that's just the gpu

Hahahaha R70k, only insane people spend that on a PC.
Is it?

PS5: R20k
2x games a month @ R1500 each: R3K monthly
7 years PS+ online : R15 400
7 year usage spent: R287 400

PC: R70k
2x games a month: R800 each: R1600 monthly
7years online : R0
7 year usage spent : R204 400

You tell me.

I don't think most people buy 2 games a month tbh.

It's also more that on PC I can update pieces of hardware as needed/budget, and it used to be that most would have a desktop anyways, but think most casual have gone just laptop route and we're slowly going the plug your phone in route soon as well.

Plenty do. And that's without considering cosmetics, add-ons and DLC.

And regardless whether it be 1 or 10 a month the end result will always be the same.

I think around R15k maybe? I just won't be buying one as my couch set up is an apple TV with ethernet connected to gaming PC with ethernet, use Apollo on the gaming PC and Moonlight on the apple TV.

Is basically a console experience as you can launch steam big picture from it and Windows and stuff is up to date anyways as I also game on the PC directly with discord (and mouse and keyboard) weekly.

Apollo allows a config option so if connection is incoming, it can make a virtual display matching TV resolution and enables HDR, is an option you tick somewhere, sorts out issues like what display is main and scaling stuff.

Except PS+ Essential is 30% off every Black Friday which would be R5487 for 7 years not R15400.

And new releases are at best, R200 cheaper.

A majority are at 2 or less per year.

And cosmetics in game will probably be similar /same price for both.

I do think console prices seem to be subsidized by much, and that the game prices are higher than on PC, but for most if it's like 3-5 years, the console will be cheaper, also easier to maintain / less friction than PC for most.

The only real reason for me to pick PC now is because I have one already, and prefer for discord. If I didn't have a previous steam library and stuff, console is quite tempting.

Maybe two a year with subscriptions; not every month.

Steam specials are a thing. I might pick up a game for R300 if I'm feeling flashy. The best was when I picked up Mass Effect Anniversary (all 3 Mass Effect games with all DLC) for around R80. That doesn't happen on console.

PS Store specials are a thing too.

Same game was R99 in July and R80 beginning of last year.

You guys play 2 games a year? WTF you casuals. That doesn't even qualify for the casual tier. Its more like ****ing tourist tier.

And yeah, the options is always going to be cheaper because, eh, derp, of options.

RE Requiem PS5: R1499
RE Requiem PC: R975
RE Requiem Green Man: R580

Trails in the Sky 2nd PS5: R1499
Trails in the Sky 2nd PC: R694

Onimusha PS5: R1499
Onimusha PC: R999
Onimusha Green Man: R819

Final Fantasy Resonance PS5: R1149
Final Fantasy Resonance PC: R849

I'm getting the feeling some of you only play 1st part slop. In which case... yeah... not many of those nowadays is there so the 2 games a year makes sense I guess.

But then I realize it can't really be because I see you ****ers in the new games and console threads.

What are you doing there? Window shopping?

Totally wrong. PS Store has regular specials, and has very good and even outstanding deals at that too.

I pick up many of my games on special.
