Press release: CIAG 2026 LGE Voting Guide

When voting; does the party/candidate represent your principles, or is it just the least bad option?

  • It's my least bad option

    Votes: 19 65.5%
  • It's enough of a representation of my morals

    Votes: 5 17.2%
  • Other

    Votes: 3 10.3%
  • I don't see any 'lesser evil' element to voting options, so I'm not concerned about that

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • "None of the Above" if it existed - register my rejection of the 'lesser-evil' election status-quo

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • The party/candidate I vote for accurately represents my views

    Votes: 2 6.9%

  • Total voters
    29
Huh? "Nobody notices, but if they did it would make an impact."

So then why support him?
I guess a lot of people feel trapped, and they can't quite put their finger on why.

I think the majority speaks volumes.... you just have stop flapping your gums long enough to hear them.

i'm aware of this however, i was under the impression ff+ was the bedfellow of choice.
it would appear to me at this juncture, ff+ will serve as a partner in an attempt the break da majority - and if and when that happens, cip will look to coalition with the da as a means to call for a referendum
The RP/CIAG has partnered with the FF+. Not the CIP. CIP nd FF+ have never been bed-fellows, afaik.

Maybe you knew that and are referring to partnering post LGE2026..

The CIAG and CIP and CapeXit NPO all have shared goal of a referendum on CI. But they are not aligned ideologically beyond that. At least not beyond a certain point.

The ULA, in my opinion have missed a giant opportunity.

They had all their ducks in a row and only required a 2 million strong mandate. Which they managed to get 25% of.

So what they should have done is shrink that massive chunk of land that they were seeking.... to 25%.

Technicalities aside, that would have enabled them to call a referendum in that smaller land and likely achieve a landslide YES referendum result.

Sadly yes but as more of them are waking up nowadays the problem is that the DA have aggressively campaigned for the poor vote. Which is why I don’t think they’ll drop much despite many of the middle & upper classes shifting to CIP/VF etc.
Lol. According to WHO?

I vote with the 68%.... the deafeningly silent majority.
i had previously contemplated not voting - then i figured it was pointless and would serve no purpose.
that had me moving on to spoiling my vote - an indication of wilfulness and effort to vote, but simply not prepared to support any particular candidate or party.

finally i decided to vote.
swathes of ppl not voting or spoiling their vote can only at very best weaken the majority (and here i am specifically referring to the da, its regular supporters, at local level), however, a vote for an alternate party serves to both weaken the majority party and strengthen another.

You are making probably a good case, or at least the best case that can be made.... without taking a step back.

31% participation rate.... that's quite something. This is not a democracy.

The only thing that could convince me to vote is adding a NOTA ballot option. That would be a game-changer. Because it would remove the 'too lazy to get out and vote' denigration. Or at least it would give a far more accurate number on that demographic.

But it is democracy lexy, the people who don't vote are choosing not to do so.

But if you aren't voting and your beloved independence people are on the ballot paper, then you clearly don't believe in them strongly enough to stand in a queue and make a mark. That is very telling.

What's very telling is #558.

It's nice that you're a nice guy, and believe in fairy tales...... peeps won't stop flappin' their gums, only a vote can be counted.

Your stubbornness is costing WC puh-lenty.

Do the better thing, say no for 5 minutes to your desire to expose politics for what it is, and help make a difference with what currently works (a bit).

"Just do it"

I heard CIP are contesting 400 out 416 wards in the WC.

Did I get that right, being the political hill-billy that I am?

What was it last time? 20?
