Plan to slash petrol prices by R6 per litre in South Africa

They will just take the money in the form of taxes somewhere else - so no real relief, just shifting the burden.

the RAF levy can be replaced by compulsory 3rd Party insurance, like we used to have. But the General levy is basically just a tax and that money has to come from somewhere?

They will never force 3rd party insurance... The taxi industry will go crazy.

They are already talking about a license renewal tax as another source of funding for the RAF, so yeah, they will find another way to get our money.

I don't know if the taxis have figured out a way to get cheaper petrol yet - at least with the feuel levy they pay some tax right?

but yes, I remember when my parents still had to have 3rd party insurance and you would get fined if you didn't. (Or something like that) I guess that just open up the door for more bribes and corruption....
