Things that irritate you - Part 4

Just come up on 24 HOURS of NO WATER in our area... but at least the power - that was off from 11h12 yesterday until 00h52 this morning - has been restored (for now, anyways)...

Amazingly, the water supply was EVENTUALLY restored at around 07h30 this morning - so that was a 48 hour water supply 'interruption'...

The FNB habit of charging fees for most transaction in addition to their standard monthly fee - time to start shopping around! 🤬
check out their different account types - they have one or more that has a fixed monthly fee and you get x amount of free transactions

I am beginning to understand why the subs medical aid/health insurance is increasing so painfully every year.

My better half did some blood tests recently. Our "saver" is depleted. Doc said pay the bloody lab cash up front, which we did do. The lab invoiced an amount of R5,000. The amount was questioned (my wife knew what the cost should be). Oops! Sorry. Oh that's what we make the medical aid pay. The cash amount is reduced to R3,000.

It seems that hospitals, doctors, labs and whatnot do this all the time. The amount they invoice the medical aids is always extravagantly hiked and paid without question.

No wonder medical aid savings and premiums are in such a mess! 😠

I've learnt to check every invoice from medical professionals these days and push back hard on bullshyte charges.

Along the same lines......

I use drops in my eyes every night. At my last checkup the opthalmologist says oh, there's a new laser procedure available. Come in on Friday and I'll do it for you, emphasing medical aid will pay in full. She tells me that after the procedure I won't have to use drops every night - IF it works.
