Russo-Ukrainian War - 2022 Edition - Part 11

Russian media quick out with disinformation. Ukraine did send drones but these were carrying food and medical supplies which were shot down and looted by Russians.

One person was killed and four others were injured by landmines in occupied Oleshky over the past day, while Russian forces confiscated food delivered by Ukrainian military drones and questioned residents found with non-Russian products, the local military administration head told the Kyiv Independent on Sept. 30.

Ukrainian weapons manufacturer Fire Point has developed technology allowing its long-range strike systems to complete missions against targets in Russia and Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory without relying on SpaceX satellite connectivity.

Fire Point CEO Iryna Terekh told Reuters in an interview published on October 30 that the company had developed technological workarounds to maintain strike capabilities despite restrictions on satellite communications.
"Fire Point systems are designed to finish a mission without a satellite link," Terekh stated, emphasising that navigation independent of external signals remains a development priority.

Terekh acknowledged that the alternative technology provides only 15% to 20% of the operational capabilities Ukraine could achieve with full Starlink coverage over Russia. She described unrestricted access as a potential game changer for strikes against high-value targets, including Russian ballistic missile launchers.

The developments follow a 10-day period in October when SpaceX restricted satellite connectivity for Ukrainian drones travelling faster than 160 kilometres per hour. The limitations disrupted drone operations and communications during ongoing strike missions. Higher-speed connectivity was subsequently restored.

In an X post on Sunday, Musk accused Ukrainian forces of breaching Starlink's terms of service by using the civilian platform in drone attacks.

"Ukraine military violated Starlink terms of service and used it for offensive drone strikes to kill people. That loophole was closed last week," wrote the SpaceX owner.

"Using Starlink, a civilian commercial service, for offensive drone strikes to kill people has never been allowed, nor should it be," he added.

Musk made it clear he was talking about the commercial platform and not Starshield, the military version of the satellite communications service owned and controlled by the US government.

"Were Starlink to be turned off, the Ukrainian front line would collapse immediately. This is NOT a threat, it is simply a statement of fact," Musk added.

Russia military have been struggling to resupply and push on from Oleshky. Under the ceasefire they have now rotated and brought in new equipment and fuel. Positions they held that were cleared and abandoned have now been reoccupied.

The Ukrainians would know this was going to happen and would have planned accordingly in my opinion.

If they didn't then they were stupid in the extreme.
