'Like a missile coming down' - Nine killed in fiery Florida jet crash

Still wondering what happened. Precipitation at 35000 ft while already having icing could have either caused a severe stall when attempting to climb or/and loss of control surfaces.

The ADSB data shows little evidence of a climb. Various meteorologists have suggested they flew directly over a rapidly growing thunderstorm. The NTSB will look into all this.

The onboard weather radar may not have picked this up (depending on the settings), and it is not as sophisticated as the radar on commercial jets, nor ground radar (which has a lag however). In general the rule is not to fly within 20 miles of a thunderstorm.

Supercooled water is generally not present at 35,000ft, nor when the air temperature is at -47C. An updraft in a thunderstorm can explain the rapid onset of icing, and the tailplane of a Learjet is definitely more prone to icing than the wings (electrical heating rather than bleed air).

Watch Juan Browne's video for his description of flying LA to Sydney in a B777, and dodging thunderstorms over the Equator on every flight, with no ground radar in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

NEW ATC AUDIO! Chewed OUT By ATC For Flying Into Storm Without Clearance In May 2026 "THIS YEAR" - Maximus Aviation

CHILLING audio from EARLIER This year, reveals moment the crew of the doomed Learjet were reprimanded by air traffic control months before the Florida crash after struggling to maintain altitude in severe turbulence.

The Learjet Plane Crash Was Worse Than We Thought! - Pilot Debrief

The Pilot Debrief video is a replay of a live-stream, so it is a bit long, not tightly edited, and lacking some details. However the timeline overlay of the flight track, weather radar, and ATC transcripts are useful. The loss of control happened rather quickly (less than 15 seconds), and whatever the cause (and possible breakup), it fast became unrecoverable, particularly when flying inside a cloud with no visual references.

This is almost the opposite of the Juan Browne video, and the two together give an overview of different aspects of the same event. Assigning cause and blame will take a long time, but it is clear that tangling with thunderstorms in any aircraft (small or large) rarely ends well.

“How often do you see two commercial pilots under 21”

Probably not going to see it anymore. Folly of youth and all that.
Often, actually. I passed my initial CPL test a few days before turning 20. Finding a bloody job back then was the really hard part. You're most likely not ready for a Learjet 60 at that age and lack of experience though.

I have a friend from my varsity days that by the time he was 18 he had his bike licence, car licence, truck licence and microlight pilots licence. He started an aeronautical engineering degree because he couldn't afford flight school but got his microlights instructor licence and starting making some money doing training. He then dropped out of varsity, started his PPL licence by renting Cessna's from the Wits Flying Club, got his PPL and the started accumulating hours via his PPL, before starting his Com licence. Got his Com licence, got a job flying land surveying flights in Africa before getting a job with Airlink becoming a Captain before moving to Air Hong Kong where he made captain. When he is back in SA he flies airshows, did testing on some of the locally made Slings, flies microlights, etc.

Unfortunately I think this post has the answer
There were two light aircraft plane crashes around Nottingham Road last year, both in low visibility. Similar thing, both had planned to fly to a certain destination, the weather didn't co-operate and they took a chance thinking they could spot a gap in the clouds so they wouldn't have to wait for the weather to clear. :(

Watch a lot of Hoover's flight debriefs on You tube, happens so often.

Not only that but its could be the entire management structure of the company.

A friend of mine died in a small plane crash and they were on a management retreat. It was a family business so they were owners as well. I'm not actually sure how they worked it out after, I assume there were other shareholders that were able to step in and re-create the structure of the business. They are still going 16 years later so they did somehow figure it out.
CTM?

Get-there-itis. An invitation for flying into IMC and ultimately, CFIT.

Was she the pilot or the co pilot? if she was the co pilot why is the pilot not in the news. Or is using her a better story. Either or very tragic. Rip all souls.

Using her is a better story. And it also allows some conspiracy theorist nutcases to latch onto the case for some reason.

Still trying to figure out why some loonies claim there was no plane.

Co-pilot I would assume, pilot flies the plane, Co-pilot handles comms. I guess because of that leaked ATC audio, she becaome the "face" of the accident. :(

Because people are idjits, then there is the other bunch of nutters who claim the plane was shot down by the Mara Lago missile battery.
