Ambassador Greer Issues Statement on President Trump’s Intent to Terminate Rwanda and South Africa from the AGOA Trade Preference Program

Yes two days before the election is too late to get through the thick skulls. It will take at least a year for the resulting misery to trickle down to the electorate. This timing will just be a red flag to the bull (headed). the cause and result mechanism is too slow for the calibre of our voters to appreciate and attribute.
One thing you should know by now, South Africans might have their differences, but nothing unites us more than seeing our right wingers uniting with Trump to further their right wing agenda.

So it won't work now, it won't work next year and it still won't work when the last right winger is in America.

So rest assured

If you go and poll South Africans on their policy preferences, it is overwhelmingly aligned with right-wing positions.

Abortion, more right wing than the US.

And then we can get to something like illegal migration, which is absolutely insane.
In the 2017 Human Sciences Research Council’s Social Attitudes Survey, 71% of the South African public identified the threat posed by immigrants as the main explanation for anti-immigrant violence. Of the nationally representative sample, most respondents answered that xenophobia is a response to the criminal activities of foreigners (33.1%) or the economic activities of foreigners (39.8%). Within the latter group, 30.3% answered that ‘immigrants increase or cause unemployment’ and 4.7% answered that ‘immigrants use up scarce resources’.[1] These sentiments are reinforced by the sense that a large percentage of immigrants in South Africa are illegal and unfairly benefitting off the back of the nation
Same sort of numbers are there for the death penalty.

The ZA government, its constitution and its elite (media, academia, and business) are woefully out of alignment with its people.

That is why ActionSA is such a disappointment. If they had stuck to making a credible right wing party they would have easily displaced the DA. Instead it is a one-man show for Mashaba's ego and his Zille derangement syndrome.

Aligned with right wing positions yet they continue to vote for parties on the left? Have you ever considered they might just be trolling the pollsters and confusing the enemy?

I think you need to keep quiet. You need to stop wasting time here, you're wasting ANC time, Ramaphosa won't be too happy with you trying to chide people online when you should be working on the ground with this election.

You know what they mean when they say ''right wing'' in South Africa.

The Zulu nation as a whole leans right. Monarchy, emphasis on tradition, Zulu nationalism, social conservatism, strong anti-immigration sentiment (venturing into violent xenophobia), textbook definitions of right-wing.

Any reason we not exporting cars to China already?
They already produce what they need domestically. Zero need for South African products which does not solve a problem or address a need. Smarter play would be 30 years ago to send refined (set up the trade relationship in that way) materials instead of raw materials overseas.

A important point most people are traditionalist/tribal right wing. That's why they just vote for who the chief tells them to even commies. Because they respect authority more than actual policy that will benefit them or that is aligned with their values.

There's is no route to a more "western right wing" that is more individualistic especially not through the socialist DA or any other non traditional party like ActionSA that was just a non starter.

We are now hoping to enter were Europe was in 1990 with semi competent center leftist and to finally let go of old style of conservatives

Also, smarter play would be to not lose AGOA by fulfilling the requirements yet here we are. We still have 59 days to get smarter.

USA: if you want to do business with us maybe stop being Racist and do something about out of control crime.

SA leftist: No we are standing by our values, being racist criminals. You are not the boss.

USA: okay bye.

SA leftist: look what Afriforum did.

TheChamp: You deserve this, you Broederbond hangers-on

i have to wonder if these same lofty principles will be maintained when it comes to major infrastructure projects ?

many yrs back i was with the state department based at various missions, including us embassy here.
i was the local contact person within the embassy for us trade development agency, us dept of commerce etc.

i was specifically and closely involved with the development of the "new" king shaka airport outside durban, the albert luthuli hospital in durban, as well as the re-development of durban deep water container terminal.

the hospital cost was R650m (around 2002)
king shaka airport (around 2010) around $900m
harbour around (current) $6bn

question is - will the usa uphold the same virtues when it comes to these types of projects - or will they stand back and watch the uk, germany and france take the lions share ?
