South Africans give the ANC a kick in the teeth

If you look at the election results of the about the last 20 years or so, you will see that there is a steady decline in the number of votes that the ANC received. People are just sick of empty promises and corruption.

It can also be a combination of the old core voter base from the 90's dying out (from old age, disease etc), and progressively the new young voters aren't swayed on supporting the anc to replace them. So a portion of that decline is permanent.

The ANC has outlived its usefulness when Apartheid ended.
They were under the false impression they would never be challenged and rule this country until Jesus Christ comes.
They will decline even further...

The so-called Great Liberation Movement achieved its initial goal, but failed and obliterated the country thereafter.
'You reap what you sow'.

Except in the rural areas it seems where they are alive and kicking.

I don’t know if it’s the reliable water infrastructure, the electricity supply to all the villages or the high speed high coverage affordable Starlink internet that’s pushing them to vote for ANC….

Do you think service delivery, corruption, etc would be in a better state if the ANC governed on their own?
Yes. Metros stood out as examples of efficiency and corruption was unthinkable 20 years ago. The world gasped in awe and dreamed that their own cities could be run like ours. Then the media lied about Zuma and everything went to hell.

You can blame the useless coalition governments, not the ANC directly. Voters have directed their anger at the ANC specifically without understanding the true causes.
You can try and cover for the ANC but it is a known fact that their management was close to uselessness (if not worse) which was even endorsed by Ramaphosa!
