carrier unlock

Hi there I would like to use this Modem (dongle) from Vodacom (the contract on this data expired more than a year ago--I want to now put a Telkom LTE SIM card to use it. Been reading the web on how to do this, and some ideas are using a unlock code which you have to buy?? Couple of questions...

Hi all... A lady friend bought an iPhone 5 (model A1387) whilst working in Chicago... believe it was used on AT&T's network. She's back in SA now and obviously wants to use the phone, but it's obviously not working on Vodacom's network. I need to get it unlocked... Help!! Can I do it...
