    Who should deregister a stolen car

    So my car was stolen a few weeks back. I am covered by Miway and the assessor has asked me to get the deregistration at a licensing department. 1. I've heard from some friends, although at other insurance companies, that they didn't have to do it, the insurance does it for them or something...
