    PC or Media Player wont pick up HDD but Laptop does? why ?

    I bought a Sony HD-EG5 500GB HDD, i tried to connect this to my PC and the PC would not pick it up. same goes for my Mecer Media Player - the media player picks up other hard drives but not this Sony. I tried it on my laptop and there it is being picked up and works fine. why would this be so...
