Hi seeing as dotco's 30gb accs are ending at the end of this month this leaves me with a big problem.
I live in an apartment building and theres about 6 of us that share the line.
We had last a problem with someone sucking our net dry but fixed that when we implemented a mikrotik hotspot which every1 has to authenticate through to get access to the internet.
Now since the 30gb options are out where left with a big problem. Each ones of us can contribute to the new acc but our options look a bit limited.
So far the only solution i've seen is the following.
1: buy a 30gb acc which on cheapest would b R1899.
2: buy 10 gb increments @ R499 p/10gb. Problem i see is that were gonna use a lot more than 10gb.
2: Get an uncapped IS acc. 2 flavours to choose from. 512 over sat @ bout R1653. or a DSL over fibre for bout R2500. This is imho a better solution cause the we can download and not worry bout limits and its also cheaper than the 30gb saix acc.
Local only accounts are of no use to me as we play a certain mmorpg a lot.
My main concern with the IS uncapped acc is that it would be over sat so if anyone has any ping requests to say ....87.237.38.200 it would be appreciated just to see the latency.
One of my buddies in the building has a spare adsl acc which we dont use at mo cause were all going through the 1 line. We've kept it alive just in case teh day comes that we need it....like now it seems.
What I was thinking is to setup the 1 acc for our heavy traffic. (p2p and the like) and get an unshaped saix acc for the other line and use it for our gaming.
So.
Line 1: 512 IS uncapped IS acc going for 1650
Line 2: 512 1gb incremental unshaped acc like the web africa one for our gaming.
If anyone has a better setup for us. PLEASE HELP.

… PS: I wasn’t flaming you at all.
Can't provide pings right now because I'm capped internationally, but over sat latency should be around 200ms higher than SAIX. Over fibre it should be more or less the same.
