What a descriptive name for this newly proposed crime ridden slums. The poor "free" housing occupants will help themselves amid st the middle class occupants. The have and the have not's intermingled? Gangs will flourish, on these new breeding grounds.

Nope, Not so, You are jumping to conclusions here. The government force integration of poor and middle class community's. Have and Have nots. So what do you think will happen? The main issue here is intermixing these classes in close proximity that will create the problem. Do not take my word for it. We will know the outcome of this experiment by 2020.

I wonder if any Government officials will live there. Want to place a bet?
 
So by that reasoning, middle class people shouldn't be allowed near upper class people either then right? :/
 
Yup, all upper class people should live on hilltops, middle class people on the hillside and lower class people, you guessed it, in the valley ... oh wait, they will be near the water source... k, lets start over ..... <scratches head>
 
Ok so I work all my life to get out of the slums into a nice middleclass area and then someone gets given a free house next to mine. I would be pissed how does this motivate ppl to do something with their lives. Government needs to get it into ppls heads that they need to stive for something. If you are given something for free you dont appreciate it as much as if you worked for it.

Why not get the ppl involved create a village and make the ppl that are going to live there build it and maintain it.

1. You are creating jobs
2. It will give the ppl a sense of ownership ( their village their community)
3. In the process you are passing on skills ( unskilled poor learning to lay bricks)
4. They will appreciate it and look after it

But wait giving free handouts gets votes so lets do that and stay in power and make money for ourselves we dont want to make life better for other ppl.

Now in my proposed township layout, it will work as the poor will be near the water source!

Do you see many middle class homes in some poss suburbs of Sandton? No, Why?

Be honest, do you want a overpopulated improved shack on two sides of your property?
 
Housing is a major concern for South Africa, and i do not see this as a major problem. They will not be building these houses in Houghton, Sandton or Westcliff etc. but in areas where there is already a huge amount of poor housing groups.

I get the feeling that people here always want to try and make RSA into Europe to a certain degree. Hey now we can be: Council housing right next door to a place to payed an arm and leg for (London, Rome and Madrid)

Just a thought:)

Now there you missed the boat. It was recently stated that the law now enforce developers to build low cost housing in between the luxury homes, as part of the same development to ensure full integration. That even went to a court order to intervene so the developers can build the luxury housing but then low cost housing must be build in close proximity but still part of the same development then. That is what the ANC wants, nothing less full integration of the rich and poor.
