Unfortunately he has to beat Webber in the same hardware - the best on the track this year by a margin - first!

Webber absolutely pwned that race. No-one could challenge him if they tried. I'd love to have seen his final gap if not for the many safety cars. He made Vettel look in another class altogether. It's even stevens for the red bull boys with Webber having the momentum. Let's see what he can do. So many wrote him off from the start of this season. It aint over till it's over.

From a Red Bull team perspective, clearly there was absolutely no reason for Vettel to be pushing Webber. Since passing is almost impossible at such little differential (same cars), the only outcome would have been attrition of cars and/or one of them going off track.
If you watched the race, Vettel was holding up Kubica et al every time the race restarted after safety car, and allowed the gap to grow between Webber and himself...unless you believe that Webber with same car can pull out a lap that is one sec faster at times at whim.

The boys behind Vettel- Kubica, Massa, Hamilton etc would all have been working much harder than Webber and Vettel and in the end Kubica gave up after he 'flat spotted' in his attempts.

How ever you look at it, Vettel was slower than Webber at quali too. Webber pwned the opposition. Vettel would have at least tried to push for a pit stop switchover with better in/out laps, but obviously couldn't get that right either. You can't hang back even if you don't plan to overtake, what if your teammate has a bad pitstop, or spins, or whatever?

What about Barrichello throwing his steering wheel into the road? Shouldn't he be getting a penalty for that? :wtf:

You have to wonder what happened to those cars, I would also be a little off knowing that I've just put my life in the hands of a 300kph machine that just breaks like that on the track.

Vettel/Webber/Newey are without a doubt a brilliant combination.

At the beginning of the season I would have tipped Vettel over Webber, but with Webber fast enough to keep Vettel very very honest, however it seems they are far more evenly matched than I thought.

What a brilliant place for Red Bull to be in.

I got the gist of your post and I disagreed with your pov - why's that such a big deal lol. Anyway, there's no point arguing my opinion vs yours anyhow. We both expressed differeing opinions, and really, I did get it!
And if Vettel was faster than Webber he would have been able to pass over the pit stops. Did Alonso pass MS on the track?

True re: Minardi. It's a welcome change to have no-body teams showing Ferrari and McLaren how to do it. I just wonder if their car has the legs for the season... momentum with development will be the key for the WC this year IMO. Having said that, that was the slowest track on the calendar... hence Renault having a car right up there in the dry. There are some fast tracks to come, including an even faster Silverstone.

I am not sure where and when Schumi passed...I didn't see it. However, if it was at the last corner, he would have been entitled to.

The commentators were going on for the whole last lap about the fact that Webber could theoretically only lose on the last corner because the safety car would be pulling in just before that (the slip lane starts before corner). So if Vettel could have done it (had he wanted of course) then Schumi had even more right to do so.

Well it is an Adrian Newey design, and Red Bull is not short of Dosh....
