Lamborghini Sian

At the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show Automobili Lamborghini unveils the Lamborghini Sián: a hybrid super sports car delivering new technologies and unsurpassed performance in the hybrid sphere.

The fastest Lamborghini of all time is realized in a new futuristic design; drawing on the brand's style DNA, but clearly a design for a new era. Taking the most iconic V12 Lamborghini power plant of today, the Sián is engineered around unique hybrid technologies, delivering the extraordinary emotion and exceptional dynamic performance of a naturally aspirated Lamborghini super sports car, while meeting a future demanding electrification.

"The Sián is a masterpiece in possibilities," says Stefano Domenicali, Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "Not only does the Sián deliver a formidable hyper-car design and engineering tour de force today, it augments the potential for Lamborghini as a super sports car brand for tomorrow and for decades to come, even as hybridization becomes more desirable and inevitably essential. The Lamborghini Sián represents the first step in Lamborghini's route to electrification, and expedites our next-generation V12 engine. Its Sián moniker, meaning 'flash or lightning' in Bolognese dialect, denotes the first electrification of a Lamborghini production car and confirms our strong connection to the territory in which we operate. With the Sián, Automobili Lamborghini demonstrates its dynastic strength as a legendary super sports car brand for the future."

The Lamborghini Sián adopts the V12 as the pinnacle of today's Lamborghini engines and develops a new super sports car powertrain: a unique new hybrid system focuses on providing the highest power possible via the lightest solution.

A 48 volt e-motor, delivering 34 hp, has been incorporated into the gearbox to provide immediate response and improved performance: the first time in any low-voltage hybrid that a direct connection has been made between electric motor and wheels. The e-motor also supports low-speed maneuvers such as reversing and parking with electric power.

This advanced technology combines with the V12 engine, which incorporates titanium intake valves and is uprated to 785 hp (577 kW) at 8,500 rpm: the highest output ever from a Lamborghini power plant. Combined with the additional 34 hp from the hybrid system, the Lamborghini Sián delivers a total of 819 hp (602 kW), and still produces the distinctly emotive resonance demanded from a Lamborghini engine. The Sián's weight-to-power ratio is better than that of the Aventador SVJ, achieved through extensive use of lightweight materials. The Sián reaches a top speed of over 350 km/h.

Lamborghini uncovers 808bhp Sian as first hybrid model

Limited-run hypercar is Lambo's fastest production model yet, and previews the future of the V12

Lamborghini has pulled the covers off the most powerful and fastest-accelerating car it’s ever produced - and it’s also the firm’s first hybrid.

Making its public debut at the Frankfurt motor show, the limited-run Siån previews Lamborghini’s plans to take its brand of V12-powered flamboyance into the near future with models such as the next-generation Aventador.

The Aventador SVJ’s naturally aspirated 6.5-litre 12-cylinder unit has been uprated from 759 to 774bhp with the addition of titanium intake valves, and is mated to a 48v electric motor producing 34bhp, for a combined total output of 808bhp. In what Lamborghini claims is a first for low-voltage hybrid powertrains, the electric motor is integrated into the gearbox and connected to the wheels for low-speed reversing and parking manoeuvres. The charismatic sound of the V12, Lamborghini assures, has been preserved.

The developments mean the Siån will offer enhanced acceleration over Lamborghini's conventionally fuelled models, sprinting from 0-62mph in under 2.8 seconds, with top speed claimed to be in excess of the SVJ’s 217mph.

New Lamborghini Sián breaks cover with 602 kW electrified V12!

Lamborghini has unwrapped its new Sián, billed as the “fastest Lamborghini of all time” and powered by an electrified V12 offering a whopping 602 kW.

The Sián combines the Italian firm’s naturally aspirated V12 with a “unique new hybrid system” Lamborghini says provides the “highest power possible via the lightest solution”.

So, what does it entail? Well, a 48 V motor has been incorporated into the gearbox to provide what Lamborghini terms “immediate response and improved performance”. The Sant’Agata Bolognese-based company says this is the first time in any low-voltage hybrid that a direct connection has been made between electric motor and wheels.

Interestingly, rather than employing a lithium-ion battery, the Sián uses a supercapacitor (located in the bulkhead between the cockpit and engine) that the company claims is three times more powerful than a battery of the same weight and three times lighter than a battery producing the same power. The electric motor furthermore supports low-speed manoeuvres, such as reversing and parking. Lamborghini says the electric system (the supercapacitor and electric motor) weighs 34 kg.

So, what about that total power figure? Well, the V12 engine, which here incorporates titanium intake valves and is uprated to 577 kW (the highest output ever from a Lamborghini powerplant), combines with the hybrid system to deliver a total of 602 kW (a torque figure has yet to be announced). For the record, the Sián tops out at “over 350 km/h” and hits 100 km/h from standstill in “less than 2,8 seconds” (making it the fastest-accelerating Lamborghini ever).

Radical new Sian is the most potent Lamborghini ever, with 602kW

Lamborghini’s striking new Sián supercar is not only the most powerful production car in the marque’s history, but it also ushers in a new era of hybrid electrification.

Fittingly, its name departs from the tradition of fighting bulls, with Sián signifying a lightning flash in Bolognese dialect. That’s pretty much the way it will hit the market too, as only 63 of them are going to be produced and, sorry, but they’re all sold out already.

Let’s get straight to the numbers. Billed as the first step on Lamborghini’s road to electrification, the drivetrain mates a 48-volt electric motor, mounted inside the gearbox, to a V12 engine that churns out 577kW at 8500rpm. With the additional boost from the e-motor, the car boasts a system output of 602kW, which is enough to get it from 0-100km/h in just 2.8 seconds, according to claims, and reach a top speed of over 350km/h.

But here’s a little twist. Instead of using a lithium-ion battery to story power, the Sián employs a supercapacitor, which is said to be capable of storing three times more power than a conventional battery of the same size and weight.

The supercar has an advanced regenerative braking system, which thanks to the symmetric behavior of the supercapacitor, can be fully charged every time the vehicle brakes. This translates into an instant power boost that’s available up to 130 km/h, when the electric motor automatically disconnects.

I've never really been a fan of the rear ends on a lambo, except that SUV thing. They have beautiful front ends though.

New Lamborghini Sián Revealed

This is the most powerful and fastest Lamborghini ever, and it’s a hybrid…

The new Sián is Lamborghini’s first-ever hybrid vehicle and it’s the brands most powerful and fastest model to date. The Sián name means ‘flash’ or ‘lightning in Bolognese dialect and represents the first step towards an electric future.

The Sián is built on the same platform as the Aventador and while it features a potent 6.5-litre V12 engine that’s been uprated to 577 kW, the gearbox also combines a mild-hybrid system with a 48V, 25 kW electric motor that delivers immediate response while enhancing performance. Low-speed driving such as parking or reversing is done on electric power supplied by the motor. Total system output is pegged at 602 kW and the Sián can reach a top speed of 350 kph.

Lamborghini Sian doesn't preview Aventador, says design boss

Lamborghini's petrol-electric model was designed to stand on its own, design boss claims cues won't be taken for next series production hypercar

The 808bhp Sián FKP 37 unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show won’t continue Lamborghini’s tradition of previewing the design of its future models with limited-edition cars.

“There was a certain closeness of design between the Reventon and the Aventador. This is exactly what I don’t want to have. There will not be this language in the new Aventador,” Lamborghini design boss Mitja Borkert told Autocar on the sidelines of the Frankfurt show.

Asked whether the Sián will influence the styling of any model coming out during the 2020s, the designer answered: “That’s a clear no.”

The Sián consequently has to stand on its own on a short branch of the ever-growing Lamborghini family tree. When Borkert and his team started the project, they drew inspiration from a wide variety of sources ranging from high-performance motorcycles to the various cars that competed in endurance racing events during the 1960s and the 1970s.

Mansory Trying To Offload Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 Build Slot For $4 Million

Lamborghini revealed their most powerful production car ever made last year and then decided to name it in honour of Ferdinand Karl Piëch, Volkswagen Group’s chairman of the executive board from 1993 to 2002.

It is called the Sian FKP 37 and it will go down in history as the brands first hybrid.

Just 63 units have been planned for production and with all spoken for before we even saw the car, you can bet there are some individuals out there desperate for one.

It is listed on the Mobile.de platform with a pre-tax asking price of $3.4 million and if you add on the 19 percent VAT (in Germany), you will be looking at a price of $4.05 million.

3,696 Piece Lego Technic Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 Revealed

Just 63 individuals around the world will be lucky enough to take delivery of a Lamborghini Sián FKP 37 but now thanks to Lego Technic, you have the chance to get one for yourself, albeit in 1:8 scale form.

We have seen the Porsche 911 GT3 RS and then the Bugatti Chiron but this is the most complex Lego Technic model so far with a whopping 3,696 pieces. It wears the same striking lime green paint as the car from the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, as well as its flashy gold rims.

This impressive kit has everything from functional scissor doors to a moveable rear spoiler, not to mention working wheels, front and rear suspension, and a heavily detailed interior. There is also a “fully functional eight-speed sequential gearbox controlled by a movable paddle gearshift.”

New Lamborghini Sián Roadster 'sold out' before it was even revealed

Lamborghini has unwrapped its new Sián Roadster, an open-top version of the hybrid “super sportscar” revealed in 2019 ... but every example has already been sold.

While the Sant’Agata Bolognese-based company will build a total of 63 units of the coupé it revealed in September 2019, it’ll produce just 19 examples of this new roadster.

Interestingly, the Sián Roadster is completely roofless (or, in Lamborghini talk, “always open to the sky”). Like the coupé, though, the Sián Roadster combines Lamborghini’s V12 engine with a new hybrid system, with the latter providing the “highest power possible via the lightest solution”.

A 48 V “e-motor” is incorporated into the gearbox to provide “immediate response and improved performance”, while also supporting low-speed manoeuvres such as reversing and parking. Rather than employing a lithium-ion battery, the Sián uses a supercapacitor located in the bulkhead between the cockpit and engine.

You can buy a Ducati to match your Lamborghini Sián

The Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini is a green 'n' gold tribute to the Sián

In July 2012, Lamborghini acquired Ducati. You might be forgiven for wondering quite what the tie-up was for, beyond propping up a few Panigales near the Huracáns at each major motor show. Something which we’d have been fine with, to be honest.

But now the motor shows have taken a hiatus, we get something altogether more tangible to represent a relationship between two of Italy’s most evocative names. This is the Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini, and to all intents and purposes it’s a two-wheeled Sián supercar. In aesthetic terms, at least.

In Lamborghini’s words, this special edition – of which 630 will be made – “transfers the core concepts of the Sián FKP 37 to the motorcycle world, redesigning the components that most characterise the Diavel”.
