The housing and the cup supplied with the kit is identical to my halogen housing and cup. So I can just plug in the led in replace of the halogen.
Will use the new parts however as my exist housing is missing the swivel part and the cup rubber is perished

Installed the smart switch and transformer today

multimeter reading 12v on the transformer output side when the switch is on
Multimeter reading 4.something volts on the pool light side :(

guess there is a short somewhere, i assume on the pigtail on the pool light side, but really not keen to drain pool to that level and dig up paving.

You do have the correct sized wire installed? Just to rule out voltage drop if it's quite a distance.

Honestly I wouldn’t know. it was what was already there.
Single 1.8mm core

probably a 10m cable

Check the connections. Use an external cable to try and gauge conductor resistance or calculate what it should be.
R = 1.7 x 10 to the minus 8 * length in meters / 1.8 x 10 to the minus 6 msq. Compare that with the measured value / 2

Not really an issue if it's normal twin and earth. Not familiar with that size. Next step is to look at the connectors.
