256kb WISP compared to 4MB ADSL?

I have a 4 MB ADSL line. Speed is good. So lately I got a WISP connection as well and it's a 256k connection. Now when I use the 4MB ADSL there is speed. When I use the WISP there is almost no difference. Latency is exceptionally good with the WISP setup which I think is why it's so fast. Is this possible because I find this difficult to believe? Telkom's 4MB ADSL is probably crappy in general because I don't really see a big difference between 256kb and the 4MB ADSL?

Depends what you're using it for I guess - for streaming and downloading, there's no comparison, 4mb is king. For general browsing I suppose there's little difference.

Latency is everything when browsing. you can have a 10mbit line with a latency of 500ms that would look dog slow next to a 128k with 10ms latency.

like mentioned if you need to do large volumes of data you need to increase the bandwidth. so 4mb would be better. if you getting files that are 5-10mb at a time then 256k will not seem that snappy

Not necessarily, depends on the site. Once the browser has made the protocol exchange for file request, if its a big site with lots of large media, the 10mbit line will simply annihilate the 128k line.
