2nd hand value: Canon VS Nikon

I have established that Canon and Nikon basically offers the same quality cameras, as viewed by a novice like myself.

My question is which make offers the better 2nd hand value when reselling?

I wouldn't think one is more valuable than the other. The bodies are considered to be obselete quite quickly. Lenses retain much more resale value.

If you're wondering which will save you more money when you upgrade, I think rather go entry-mid level on the body and buy good lenses.

Amen to that. I am using an old 20d and with the kit lense it is so-so but when I got a 50mm f/1,4 it started taking some amazing shots. I can really justify buying a new body but the list of really good (fast) lenses I want for Birthday/Christmas/Father's day/Monday is growing all the time.
