Thanks Ajax, I'll check it out. My only problem currently is I seem to be stuck in the 2G zone. When HSDPA kicks in it's a thing of beauty and I get 70KB/s or more, but most of the time I'm getting 6-12KB/s. No idea if that's normal.
On the *111# thing, I forgot that you are using the USB modem. Not sure if that will work though, but it will work in a phone.

Things you could do to get 3G and not GPRS is set a 3G only profile on the card. This is done in the dialler software somewhere. Apparently not all versions of the dialler supports this AFAIK.
Also, if you are on the bottom floor of the building, move upstairs, or closer to the window. Put the USB modem on an extension cable away from the pc or tv etc.
HSDPA speed is dependent on signal. If you have llike 2 bars, you will have only 3G speeds i.e. 384 kbits/sec. Try and get full bar or more for HSDPA.
