3G not working with my Nokia 6680

I just got the MTN Nokia 6680 3g package, the 3g sim was activated a few hours ago but I'm not seeing the 3g logo under the signal icon. I have the phone switched to cell area info. When I connect the USB cable to my laptop I can connect at 28.8kbps (which is double what I'm used to) but certainly not broadband.

I called 808 (option 5) and was told that I should be seeing 3g in my area (parkview Jhb)

The guy told me to enter *123*11# which installed the the WAP and MMS settings but I'm still not seeing getting 3g.

I don't think it's anything to do with my account coz I'm on the Genie programme.

Anyone have any ideas?

No 3g at my house

Well, well, well, so I nip off down to the shops and my phone shows 3g, I drive home looking at the signal all the way back, it stays on 3g. I get to my driveway gate and poof! 3g disappears. Nowhere on my property can I get 3g.

Anyone at MTN wanna stick a mast in my neighbours garden?

Hey mate - if you are just outside of coverage area, try use an external antennae - might help!

working today

K 3g is working today and I got 460.8Kbps not bad at all. I'll start a new thread with my bunch load of questions.
