4Mbit Line Terrible on IS

Hey Guys

Just got upgraded to 4Mbit line, not that im complaining but im not overly impressed, the network must be taking alot of strain especially IS. uTorrent speeds with saix account are averaging on 110kb/s with IS account doesnt ever go above 55kb/s.

Anyone else seeing a speed problem with IS??
 
Not that i have 4Mbps ADSL, but is the torrent local or international, cause i know IS is slower international other than saix :(
 
unless that torrent is EXTREMELY well seeded and not off a public tracker then you may see 4mbit speeds. But using a download manager, a news server with a few connections you will see 400kb/s pretty much all the time..
 
You cant have a 4mb and be totally ignorant about how bandwidth and downloading works. Maybe u need to further your knowledge before making senseless threads like this. Most of us have had 4mb lines for a while now and know exactly when and when not to expect 4mb speeds.
 
See a well seeded torrent and you get some great speeds. Just getting the new SP and extremely well seeded and wait, is it true, around 300kb/s for a torrent on IS?

No it must not be possible as malakabob says 4mbit is crap... ;)
 
Well torrents just arent a good way to measure wether a line is crap or not, infact its the worst possible way.

Why not try a speed test or multi-threaded downlaod if you want to claim that IS's 4mb line is crap.
 
I think that they are limmiting all there accounts ... besides the uncapped ones..
 
I wouldnt say that exactly. Just did an international speedtest(wow international is up again) and got:
1.5mbit(down)
320(up)

I presume you've done all the various speed tests and checked your sync rate to see where you stand wrt the up to 4mb/s line speed.

Try a better tracker.
 
you know when you hanging on by a thread(lines seem to be quite terrible tonight here):
sync: 4096/384
SNR Margin: 1(down)/14(up)
 
As others have mentioned, Torrents are a very bad way of judging actual line speed. An http or ftp download from a decent server would actually be best.

But IS is able to limit the speed of accounts. Especially for uncapped, or the really el cheapo type of accounts ISPs like Cybersmart are famous for.
