6680 Availability MTNHandsets

Waiting a week now for Autopage to deliver my 6680 and have just been told to wait another week. Is there really no stock at MTN? Whats the deal?

I waited exactly one month for mine (after applying for an upgrade). While I was patiently waiting for mine I heard a strange accumulation of excuses and theories:

a) The phones may be defective and in turn distribution suspended, this was put down to rest when I actually managed to get hold of one.

b) The SP's are only receiving 200 handsets at a time due to certain licensing issues with MTN. This might be a possibility considering how long you have to wait to get the damn thing, your effectively put in some kind of a queue.

My advice, take it easy, its worth the wait. I wouldnt go blaming the SP either, seems they all probably short on stock.

Thanks for the info. Well if this rolls over to next month I might insist on Octobers pricing (seeing the cost of the 6680 on Mycall 100 drops monthly). At least it dropped from +- R1000 to R800 from August to September.

These delays are almost exclusively caused by demand for the product. There are no licensing issues with any SP's in terms of product availability, and there has been no suspension of distributin due to any kind of epidemic failure.

This phone has just proved to be more popular than anticipated and we are striving to meet customer demand.
