You'd think that, but there are many different species that look or act similarily but aren't even related. Saber tooth tigers were marsupials but looked and filled the role of big cats.

Yes, but that is not my line of reasoning. In ToE it is far more likely that if there were further mutations that they would evolve into something else than birds.

You're missing the fact that it's almost impossible to deduce that these 2 events actually happened in a short space of time,carbon dating and other methods always have several thousand years of margin for error at best.

The precision is just not there to say this happened at exactly the same year/month/day.We just know it was around 66 Million years ago probably give or take several thousand years regardless of the accuracy of your calculations!

Carbon dating is irrelevant here. Carbon 14 has a half-life of about 5700 years, and you can’t really date anything older than 50,000 years with carbon. For dating back to the Age of Dinosaurs, you'd have to use U-Pb or Ar-Ar (or a few other more obscure methods).

Not missing that fact at all. I know we are talking about, give or take a few thousand years. Logic simply tells me an impact as massive as the asteroid hitting us would surely have popped every volcano on the face of the earth. That amount of energy added to the raw power and pressure of the magma under the earth's mantel... i would have difficulty believing they are not related.
As you say, proving it beyond any doubt is not possible, but a bit of logical thinking goes along way.
Mother Earth is not a solid piece of rock, she is a soft, squishy, under pressure, ball of hot **** just waiting to explode. that is why mother Earth is female i guess....
