Hi,

Just wondering if anyone could shed light on my problem.
I have adsl with tiscali and am using a netgear dg834GT wireless router. Untill a few days ago it has been great. Getting near the full 8mb speeds.

Over the weekend it began to get a little slow, and now it is so slow that it is unusable. I have obviously tried resetting it and re applying the latest firmware with no affect.

Here's where the strangeness is. I can remote desktop from work to my pc at full speed and browse google at full speed, but almost every other website takes literally ages to load (and i mean at something like 10 minutes to load amazon home page). I have tested the dns and that is all super quick as normal.

Anyone got ideas, or is it new router time?

Thanks for any help.

Chris

EDIT: I have also tried this on wired and wireless using four different pc's and four different OS's (xp32, xp64, vista and MCE) and turned off firewall and antivirus on all.

Thanks for rep, just made edit to above post, Yep, always run wired for the xp64 box

This may sound stupid, but have you given Tiscali a call yet? They may have a cache server you can use, something like the SAIX cache we have in South Africa.

Ask them for a proxy or cache server and ask them if they aren't experiencing any problems.

If you can, get a router from a friend or co-worker and test it on your line, to narrow things down ;)

Yep, have asked them this already (spent about an hour on the phone last night to them).

I should have also mentioned that I have tried the connection with the "rubbish" speedtouch broadband modem that they supply (USB) and it all seems fine if a little slow (3mb instead of the 8mb).

Hope you get is sorter Christian, if you can get hold of an 8mb router it would be great ;)
