The time taken for Telkom to answer calls on this line is a disgrace.

I remember in the beginning when calls were answered in under 5 minutes.

Now it takes around 15 minutes for them to answer a support call.

Clearly they have not increased their number of staff the entire time their customer base has been growing. You would think if they are going to charge the highest rates in the world - they could at least offer a decent support centre.

Yip, Its quite pathetic nowadays. I phone the number, leave the phone unattended to and come back 15 minutes l8er. I can't rememeber when was the last time it took any sooner than 15 minutes for 1 of them to answer.

Yup. It became a habit to make myself a cup of coffee, read the newspaper, clean my room, chat a bit etc etc. before they decided to answer the phone, and then they still had to give me feedback which took even longer...

pathetic - It is an UNDERSTATEMENT by FFFFFFFFFFAAARRRRRR! If it was as little as 15min

I think they should put some different music on.
Its been the same music for years now.. getting kinda irritating.
Or maybe an option to pick a radio station to listen to...

At least its toll-free

If you don't have a speaker phone, here's a suggestion that might alleviate some of the frustration: Put the phone down on your desk in front of your microphone and then listen over your pc speakers. At least then you don't have to hold on to the phone while waiting and you can do something else.

I hate those stuupid tunes they play. They make me mad before i've even spoken to anybody.
What I do is dial the number, put it on speakerphone, and then go make coffee, have a smoke. I've yet to come back and the line is dead. Shortly after that (approx 8 minutes), they usually answer. The trick is to phone before 09H00, or after 15H00. Never in-between.
