advice needed

ok a friend of mine want to get DSL i would like to know what it the best and cheapest option. He is currently looking into the dobroadband 2 but does not want to sign the contract. So what i want to know is how much evrything will cost. The price of routers, DSL line, ISP etc.

You don't have to sign a contract, and I advise you NOT to!!
Do2 costs R258 - this excludes your phone line rental, but includes the DSL line and ISP (Telkom) charges.

A decent router will cost you a few hundred.

I really dont know what all the fuss is about with the signing of a contract.....probably just an anti Telkom stance.
I have had 512k with TI (3years)....touch wood.....no problems so far. At 2 years they offered me a new wireless router/modem and couriered it to me.
I recently ugraded to 4meg DO 3 with a Closer plan so all the line rentals and things are all together and ended up paying R58 less than what I was on my total bill.
I cant speak for other service providers, but I'm happy with TI....seems solid to me.....just the wait for helpdesk sucks.
