Afrihost and console gaming: what is brewing...?

- is anyone going to explain the significance of Vumatel/Vuma Reach? Is it the bane of FNOs? Is Afrihost, and by extention me, held hostage?
- do i have to give up on my dream of reaching the 2 500 000th rank in Fortnite as a Switch player?
- who killed JR?

So many questions...

Vuma Reach is just a prepaid service paid directly to Vumatel by either Payfast or EasyPay and managed by an ISP, where other services are month to month and paid to the ISP who then pays the FNO for using their infrastructure to explain it basically.

The services are the same except that Vuma Reach uses a ONT/Router as one device where other services uses an ONT and a separate Wi-Fi router.

All in all, you should get the same internet experience minus the functionality of a seperate Wi-Fi router.

After much deliberation, decided to cut off my relation with Afrihost. Was the best internet I experienced.

It's not you, it's me. Our atrological signs are incomptible and you deserve someone better than me. Who knows what our futures hold, and we need to go out and explore and meet others.

So, I managed to test my Switch at another location. Same Afrihost ISP...

On the 20/10 line I get over 19Mb/s when doing a speedtest from the Switch. Done 3 tests. I dunno what to make of this...

I have been down there. I know this road. I know exactly where it ends. And this is not where I want to be.

Edit: I still hope that I am wrong, and maybe this is just some mixup

Afrihost is going out of their way to make my life miserable. For 3 years and nine months I've made every effort to pay my dues on time, and now they're unwilling (?) to cancel my account. Today was supposed to be my last day of access (confirmed via email with their... consultants), and I cannot sign up for a new ISP, bc of my active account.

I've now been told it will take 3 months...!?!?

There will always be downtime when it comes to switching ISP's, with some it can take 48 hours to switch over fully. Glad it will be done tonight for you though

Connected. At last. Testing the waters still: 20/10. Speeds are normal and as expected on the greatest and sexy and allmighty Switch again. Due to blood contracts signed and souls sacrificed I cannot reveal my new ISP...

Early days still, but I think Afrihost might want to check some of their configs...?

Hopefully my new ISP and I become besties, taking long walks on the beach, eating raw meat on our dates and making lots of babies.

Hi.

You may have a CGNAT, and your ISP needs to allocate a public IP to clear the error.
