Hi guys

Just wanted your experience with any of these 2 providers for FTTH.

I've narrowed my choice between these 2 and excluded a Mweb and Cisp due to bad reputation and service levels.

From what I have read on the fibre forums, it seems Afrihost to be in the lead, but also heard some folk with bad reviews for whatever reasons. I know SS is on the MTN network, so not sure if that's a good or bad thing.

Am looking at 100/100 or 200/200 speeds.

Would appreciate your feedback please. Also I can't see the pricing of SS.

If anyone have it, please post the see price differences and if installation and activation fees are free perhaps.

rather take afrihost than supersonic their whole user interface is really nice and the support is rather quick with responses, i use cool ideas but wont touch supersonic unless i was on the mtn network for specific reasons.

I am currently running Vox on Vumatel with no issues, the speed is consistent and no shaping or throttling is applied. The support is, oky, you need to phone them for support, dropping an email seems like a waste of time as they never get back to you. I would definitely not recommend Vodacom, they are by far the worst ISP when it comes to support and their services never work (you dont get the speed you're paying for and you constantly have to reboot your router - speaking from experience)

Hi, we are also deciding on Afrihost PureFibre or Supersonic. Which ISP did you use?

Just based on the cancellation policy Afrihost is the best. Supersonic has a 24 month clawback. AFrihost has a 6 month fixed fee R999 clawback. They supply a superior router and it stays your forever. Supersonic locks the Zyxel router and it's not that great of a router.

Who will be the cable provider?

Thank you very much, this is a good point to consider. We will have to use MetroFibre Networks

Right so you don't want to pay for installation right? Then it's good to check the cancellation policy because most charge you the full installation fee. Comparing Afrihost and Supersonic on price quickly because that is what you mentioned.

Afrihost Free Installation includes:
R1250 installation fee
R575 activation fee
R999 Free router
-
R999 fixed cancellation fee if you cancel before 6months or zero cancellation fee if you cancel after 6 months.

Supersonic Free installation includes:
R1250 installation fee
R575 activation fee
~R899 Free router
-
The cancellation fee is based on all of the above fees added deprecated monthly for 24 months. This means R2724 / 24 = R113.50. So you take the total and minus R113.50 each month you are with them. Whatever is left if you cancel before 24 months you pay. They do not allow you to return the router you pay for it as part of the cancellation fee.

So just based on this I would go for Afrihost. You know it's a fixed Fee of R999 IF you cancelbefore 6 months and you know there will be zero charges after 6 months if you cancel.

Afrihost definitely.. We have no probs and are happy with them.. My friend is with Supersonic and he has endless problems.. Sometimes has to hold on line for 60 mins before call centre answers.. Will highly recommend afrihost!

Hi All,

Thank you very much for your inputs. I appreciate it. We will definitely be using Afrihost.
