Alternate dialer software ( alternate to VMC dashboard ) ?

I have a small Toshiba libretto mini notebook without any CDROM. It runs WIN 98.
My problem:
I installed the Novatel U630 ( Vodafone ) Card just using the small inf driver file that was somewhere on the CD ( i emailed it to myself )
The card is succesfully installed but cannot log onto the network as i have no dashboard to control it.
I can do the tedious job of laplinking the VMC software to the Toshiba and installing it.
However, the Toshiba is an old machine with little resources and im not sure its worth the effort laplinking to the toshiba and then finding that the VMC software doesnt run well as it needs more resources.
Is there a small ( under 10mb ) program that i can download from the net that will allow me to control the Card and choose whether i want to use 3g only, gprs only etc and to put in the PIN code etc. A basic program that doesnt have to have SMS and Wifi but just what you need to connect to Gprs or 3g??
Please advise...
V3g, maybe you know of something?

Do a some googling on Multinet by Diginext its free and it works just better in some cases than VMC

DOH!!! sorry, forgot about that *little* detail :rolleyes:
 
I've actually been considering developing a dialer (to partner my Signal Meter), that doesn't require the VMC at all ... but that would still be some time away.
 
I think when you are writing a modem script for your win98 computer, it has to work. Look at : http://www.enumerator.org/projekte/erfahrungsberichte/kabelloses_internet_mit_linux.html
This is for linux but modem commands are (nearly) the same.
Remark :

The last initialization command << AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","web.vodafone.de" >> can be found in the advanced setting of your modem when you installed the included software on a computer with the corresponding OS.
For XP : Start>Settings>Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager>Modems>Novatel ...
Select properties>advanced
Here's your 'extra initialization commands' (here you can read the command for your country)

dunno if its compatible with 98 but try the mobilink software that gets shipped with the mtn u630..........im sure some1 here can get you a copy.
 
Alternitivly take the pin code request off the sim and then just create a normal dial up connection with the modem that gets created when the card installs. No username or password. It will probably just work via gprs , but you have a connection
 
im trying multinet by diginext.
works but ot 100%:
GPRS : dials up
3G; doesnt dial up but allows u to select 3g and then once its on 3g i use a normal dialup and it connects via 3g= working...
im using it on a Flybook at the moment.still have to get it onto the Libretto.
