I have gotten in two little tuffs on this forum today and both were about me being a liar because I say I get full speed alot of the time, barring the od problem at WBS of course. I was also told I was stupid and a liar for mentioning other users perhaps were in the same boat as I was. Am I really the only one? Surley some of you get full speeds too, how can iBurst be such a waste of money for 2499 out of 2500 users?

You're not the only one.

But you should know, its just not TRENDY to say anything good about Iburst.

i'm gettig up to 100k down.where I was expecting only outdoor connection according to the coverage map.verry happy about the speeds.the only problem im having is with IRC and that has only been for the last 15 Hours.I'm not seeing that as a major problem, they must just sort it out.
Best value for money.

I've never done so many file sharing even with the P2P throttle!!!!!!!!!

WBS, they do it sometimes, like if the torrent shaping software (whatever they use) isn't working I notice that when you click .torrents to download them you get that 'document contains no data' message

Yeah, iBurst must rock until you run into that little problem.

if you download torrents its not a problem, and of course any idiot can use um a proxy

my speeds are perfect after 18:00 before that its a bit poor...but allot better than it was last week.

Same here. I get home @16:30 and only get 20kb/s but after 18:00 the damn thing flies! I'm capped btw so it's pretty impressive.

When it works, it is perfect. When it doesn't I think of new torture methods for WBS staff.
It's beginning to work more and more now days, still not as reliable (performance and just plain stability) as Sentech, but it's much better than 2 months ago

The speed is amazing, as long as you are interested only in http!

The only problem is that I primarily want to use other protocols, and almost none of them works, lets underline, NOT WORKING AT ALL, not that they are slow!

So you have a relatively expensive internet connection which can be used only for checking your email, searching google, and posting on the forums ... what an impressive deal!

My comments ...

You are not the only one :) I don't use iBurst during the day, but my wife uses it for VPN connections to her office. The connection was a bit patchy up to yesterday morning about 10, and after that no disconnections or speed problems (keep in mind this is only file access and e-mail through the VPN).

As for me, I download the occasional large file from the net, but mostly it is research and https connections to servers in the UK. It has had its moments where it was terribly slow, but not to that extent that I will rant and rave every day (even though I make my comments on funny posts) :D

Last night, I did the Telkom speed test, ADSLGuide and what not, and locally I managed to get 1.6Mb, yes this is not a typo. And feel free to call my a liar whoever wishes to do so, I really don't care.

For my needs, iBurst is the only way to go, and even with the few glitches the last few days, I am a happy customer!

Funny works fine for me on other protocols (IRC, UT2k4, SSH) ...but then again someone always has to say it works for them

The problem you guys are facing is the same as many of us faced with Sentech - complete lack of useful communication.

Obviously everyone with more than half a brain wants iBurst to succeed simply because we need more competition.

From the outside, looking in, it's quite scary how the parallels between Sentech and WBS are evident.

When I first got MyWireless I noticed lots of people complaining already, but I was getting rock solid connectivity which lasted two months - so were other people. About 30% of users were experiencing problems.

That is exactly where iBurst is at now.

Then the **** hit the fan and pretty much everyone was having a rotten time of it.
This went on for 6 months with promise after promise and then basically complete radio silence - the only way that we got info was from some of the guys here getting heavily proactive.

That then led to a totally stupid argument about the "CUG" (closed user group) who eventually met with Sentech to discuss how poor the service was - the CUG was attacked by some forum members for not talking about what was discussed with Sentech.

Hopefully iBurst won't end up like that.

My speeds and connectivity on Iburst have been great barring the few hiccups they have had. For mission critical IT bussinesses that require 99.9999999999% connectivity and uptime it may be a problem but for personal use its perfect.

bb_matt, talking 'bout the CUG, was there eventually an "official" version by any of the members of what was said ?

As I remember it, the CUG were never under any obligation to tell us what was said. They did it under their own steam, in their own time.

We got some snippets, but the obvious outcome when you read between the lines was that it was a failed attempt to get better service - the bottom line it seemed was one of complete incompetency on Sentechs side, rather than deliberate obscufication - they tried to hide thier incompetency behind lies because they were backed into a corner.

Many on the forum at that time attacked the CUG over their tight lipped attitude, when the bottom line was that the meeting didn't achieve anything at all, except to point out that people can at least get an audience with ISP's if they try hard enough.

Well, I think we have the whole story to be honest.

A group of angry users went to head office at Sentech to demand service and met a bunch of incompetents, decided it was a waste of time going further and bailed out of MyWireless.

That's the way I picture it. If there actually was any story worth talking about aside from that, we would've heard it by now.
