Well, Telkom amazed me negatively as well as positvely today.

9:00: Client calls - no ADSL connectivity

9:30: All seems fine on client side - we call ADSL helpline. They "test" the line, and reports it is "syncing". Nothing wrong...

9:45: User complains he was cut of in the middle of a conversation and the line on which the ADSL is, turns out has no voice anymore.

Call Telkom again.

11:00 Telkom calls: Can we please meet them in front of the building - they are getting lost in the maze (can't blame them).

15:00 ADSL and voice repaired. Bad connection way down the street in a Telkom box.

I'm amazed at the speed it happened!

11th : 16:00 : Telkom comes to install ADSL (after saying they would be there at 9)

11th : 17:00 : I get an acc

11th : 17:05 : I realize they have installed 192k instead of 512k, and cant phone them since they only take calls till 5

12th : 13:00 : Phone telkom, they tell me i dont have adsl, and if i would like adsl they will schedule a date for them to come install it... i tell them that i DO have DSL and they installed the wrong package... they tell me i DO NOT have DSL, after 10mins i figure that the database has not been updated and will phone back later and hope for the best.

12th : 14:00 : Phone again, get trasnferd 9 times, yes 9 times, explain the story each time, and get NOWHERE, almost 2 hours spent on the phone

12th : 16:00 : Phone back and ask for the manager, get number and have to phone THAT number.

12th : 16:10 : Phone the Manager and get told that someone will phone me soon. I ask him how long is "soon" and he says with in the next 3 days...

needless to say they have not even botherd to phone me, not even attempted, i have phoned a few times since and NOTHING... at the moment i am waiting to see if they will acctually phone me after the 3rd promise made

Unbelievable. Especially for a COMMUNICATIONS company

email sharon horton [email protected] and complain.

Make sure they don't charge you the upgrade fee to go from 192k to 512k!

What amazes me about Telkom

(1) You can call Telkom's "help" line a couple of times and each person will tell you something completely different! Guy #1 tells me Telkom will call me TODAY. Guy #2 tells me only in FIVE days. Guy #3 tells me Telkom WON'T call me until they're ready to do the installation. I'm inclined to believe that Telkom will NEVER call me.

And (2), even more astonishing, Telkom makes this HUGE profit. They fired thousands of workers. Yet, when you call that ADSL "help" line, they put you on hold for 30 mins. Why not put a couple of extra people answering that phone? Plus, when I ordered my ADSL, they said 21 work days. Now, after a couple of weeks, they want to have me wait ANOTHER TWO MONTHS!!! Why? Because their technicians are overloaded! And they're firing people???? WHY???

thx peapod ill do just that! i must add then when i was talking to the techies at telkom they didnt sound very clued up

ZX_SA, welcome to the board!

Reason: profits go up when overheads (i.e. people) are fired.

Right... No offence but you are a dumbass...

Telkom Techie: Sorry you dont have adsl
You: But I do they installed it yesterday...
Telkom Techie: No sorry not on our system
You: Ok Ill will apply again... what a mission (Huge sigh)

Now you step away from the phone and never phone telkom again... they dont know you have ADSL... you aint gonna pay for it...

So the question you should be asking yourself is, why did i phone... I could have had free adsl even though its 192, who cares, life my friend goes on...

Now go away im busy
