What's it like?
I've never played an MMORPG before but enjoy the star wars universe.
Worth the monthly fee?

I heard it pretty much sucks. When I played WoW I had loads of people from my guild who'd come across from SWG.

Yeah well from the response here, I guess so. Any advice for total beginners on getting started on WoW. Purchasing, etc.

Look at the WoW subforum, I'm sure there's advice there. And good luck in your new life.

/me is a reformed WoW addict, and I now spend half my time trying to convince people that MMO's are Satan :P

From what i've read SWG is DED. The developers rly screwed up the game an there's almost no steam left in the game.

If you want a space based game then get ureself a trial membership for eve-online.
It's the best space based mmorpg out there. Hell it's one of the only.

Check out http://www.mmorpg.com for more info on mmorpgs that you think you might like.

I think Armitage is right. I played SWG for a long time, From beta to just before the Battle "rebalance"

I had a lot of fun and it took up many hours of my time, But Sony made one big mistake, The refused to listen to their customers and made changes based on the Dev's play styles. In effect, they killed the game.

Now if only companies like Telkom would learn from other peoples mistakes

EVE is very cool, but expect a lot of farming and boredom before you really get anywhere.

It used to be AWESOME! I played it for almost two years, but it just turned into a complete heap of dung! They're doing really odd things to it... messing it up completely... *shrug*

I used to play it as well, say for about two months. Only leveled my char up to lev 30.

I played it both pre and post NGE (New Game Enhancements) and was kinda intrigued by it. I had played WoW on a hacked server in SA before I came over to the UK.

I enjoyed the feeling of getting in your own spacecraft and flying around space, but ultimately, there was nothing to do. The game used to have something like 32 professions which they nerfed a few months ago down to 9 rofl.

They killed the game, it's so broken its not even funny. The NGE brought in almost FPS like elements, where you had to point and shoot. Good concept married with horrible execution. You ended up being shot trough walls and boxes, which defeats the purpose imho. It also went real-time, which would spoil it for high-latency connections.

Must say I really did try to like the game since I'm a SW fan as well. Eventually, I gave in and bought WoW - haven't looked back since ;)
