C3 Applecart is definitely not the type of company that goes the extra mile for their customers ... they will never see me again.
After giving C3 all the information around the faulty batteries, extended battery warranty, about 100 posts from guys with the same issue, all they did was look up my serial number, and told me it is not part of the recall (which was for 15" MBPs, and not 17" to start off with). I knew this, as I never said it was part of the recall, but Apple knows there is a problem, hence the extended warranty. "Core and Microtek (battery distributors?) say they will not replace it under warranty" ... I have a couple of bucks riding on the fact that C3 never even contacted them.
Next option: Apple IMC Service centre in Kramerville ... I drive there, take out the battery, showed it to the technician, and his response: "Let's just see if there is stock so we can swap it out" ... I also met Nuno (bwana I think you mentioned him before) who also indicated that it must be swapped out even if it is out of warranty.
So, there you have it ... I have a brand new (flat - as in physical and charge wise
) battery in my beloved MBP ... was at Apple IMC for less than 10 minutes!
