Area info?

What be this "area info" thing? I've never really bothered with it, but the curiosity is getting too much.

Something about weather reports and other things you can subscribe to...

Depending on how confident you are with your battery, I wouldnt suggest you turn it on.

All it does is tell which area you in, eg which is the tower you getting your reception from.

One of of saving battery life is by turnin it of.

Nah I'm not talking about that setting ..erm.. maybe I'm confused.

It's usually under Messages -> Settings (depending on phone) and you can subscribe to different messages etc;

You're referring to the one that just shows you which area you're connected to and if 3G is enabled?

You using a SE I can tell.

Try activating it, It will show the area you in, eg Sandton Tower 1, or whatever area you in.

Try it.

Yeah I've tried that. But it's also got extra stuff that you can subscribe to. That's wha tI'm curious about.

I know wat you talking about, im not sure how to use it though... i know you have to enter some number when you choose 'New Subscription'....

I dont think the service is supported in S.A, but where networks support it, you can subscribe to a certain channel that will deliver information (eg weather, traffic reports etc.) based on your location.
