Was just wondering how you guys do in arenas... Hearing a lot of complaints about latency etc, but have not seen any rankings yet.

Rankings depend quite a lot on battle group, so hard to compare cross groups, but still interesting to see.


I am a casual duelist (hunter) with lifetime ranking in
2v2 (hunter+feral druid) around 1650 "Tweeling - Armory"
3v3 (hunter, feral druid, paladin) 1500 "Ioki's Minions - Armory"
no 5v5 at the moment

My mage is ranked 1500 in 2v2 teamed with a warlock "Shadows - Armory"
 
A month or so ago I was in a 3v3 ("R Kelly PvPd on Me") with my druid(feral) and shadow priest, shifting them out for games. I partnered up with a holy priest and a mace spec rogue. We averaged around 1700, peaking at 1800 on a good weak. The rating is sitting around 1650 atm I think.

2v2 ("Shinsengumi") sitting at around 1550, just there for fun when I'm bored.
 
Well ... I had a pretty bad week in arena...
My 2 vs 2 we dropped from a 1710 rating down to 1601 ( Die boeremag)
Priest + Hunter

My 3 vs 3 - 1549 ( sixteen inches ... unbuffed)
Hunter + Priest + MS warrior

My 5 vs 5 - 1673 (the cult ) also dropped from a 1730 rating
Hunter, pally, DPS spec shammy, priest, MS warrior

But on a good note... I hit my 5000 arena points cap.
 
I dont do arena, cant be bothered rly... sure the weaps are nice, the gear is easy 2 get... i see it as blizz's way to give the guys who dont raid, an opportunity at easy epixx

season 3 now takes a sum effort to get gear, but s1 and when s4 comes out, s2 will b a monotonous honor grind

i like to think geared in t4/t5, is far more of an acheivement than arena gear.

Tbh raiding is still faster to get gear :p
Arena you can get about 1 piece very 3-4 weeks longer for newest gear. Raiding you can get 0-4 pieces in one week. I love the arena gear for the masive stamina boosts, and the games self are a new chalenge outside the boring TK or SSC raids.

No ways... gimme some of that stuff you are smoking...
With raiding you are never guaranteed of your drop... with arena you know you will be getting your item. (apart from the new rating requirements).
+/- 50 kara raids, never seen that sunfury bow drop for me. Few weeks arena, guaranteed Merciless crossbow, hell I dont even have to win all the time. Raiding you MUST kill the boss for the drop.

Eg. Tiered items which you share with other classes, you gotta wait your turn... or make sure you have enough DKP. When last have you looked in orgri how many people are running around with Full Season 2 merciless gear vs full tier 5.
One boss has a item you want, you can only kill him once a week (not talking about ZA now), even if you kill him, you share your loot with loads of other people and he might even not drop your item... another week has to pass before you get to attempt it. My case, Leotheras trinket. Seen it drop once in all the SSC runs we did. Also, most guilds wont let you join their raids if you pitch up with green gear, that means grinding and raiding 5 mans / heroics over and over to get your gear just up to a level where guilds will let you raid with him. Nope sorry... I agree with Optioncard... arena / bg epics are easy mode to get... One weekend of double honour AV could land you a few epic's... guaranteed !
 
Now your comparing rare drops to arena gear...
That is a total unfair comparison!
How easy was it to get s1 gear at tbc release? 2k - 3.5k points per item at an average of 400 points per week? Yes you were working towards a goal and a sure target, but to get fully geared how many weeks did it take? How long did it took to get gear in kara (excluding the rare drops) ?

T4 now is as useless as S1 gear... but to get these initialy took about the same time, the T4 gear a lot faster in cases where you were in well organised groups.

I want to emphesise the next bit.
PVP gear is not really compareble to PVE gear! Yes the weapons can be used as pleased, but the armour?? Do you want to have a tank in S2 gear tanking easy bosses like Gruul?



Yes there is weeks that can go past that you get no drops from raids, still remember ToEP in Molten Core? But while you get nothing you atleast save up DKP for when your item does drop. At some stage you also have to let go of your dreams to get a specific item and start focussing on something else like moving to another instance/raid.
 
Short answer yes latency makes Arena play suck, when millsec's are the difference between life and death we die.

PVP vs Raid

This is one of those hotly debated topics on WOW forums...

You guys saying this are mostly Raiders, and I am therefore curious as to why you be grudge PVP players there gear.

Personally I think there are 3 distinctly different aspects to the game. If you are a PVPer then get your Glad gear, if you are a raider raid for t4, 5 and 6, if you are social player grind rep Epic's or craftable ones who cares. Perhaps you do all 3 and dont have a life!

WOW favours Raiding in terms of the game content development so yes PVP is a poor cousin and gets much less attention from Blizzard, and yes good gear is probably easier to get because the system is flawed, but so what PVP gear is for PVP and it has very limited use in Raids, 200 plus resilience isn't's going to help you much on boss fights if you are gimped on other stats.

And sure Tier Gear is the hardest to get, think most ppl acknowledge that and thats how it should be.

Only pvp items i go for, are the epic gems :)

for dps classes, s1 arena gear can provide a small bit more dmg than t4
t4 isnt 'useless' tbh, we killed VR as our first boss in the 'stronger 25man instances'. that was... 3months ago i think?

we're now on vashj, still got loads of players in a few pieces of t4, progressing on her, 53% on our third night of attempts

Wow is not favoring raiders, theres wat 15% per server who raid? Look at the arena models, when s3 comes out (28th? if im not mistaken), ppl will look like they've got t6, the stats of s3 are better than t5 if enchanted properly. Your right in saying tier gear is harder to get, but theres no 'acheivements' after gettin it...

Hardcore Raider: Ive killed Illidan
Casual Arena Player: rofl nub, my gear looks the same as urs, id so totally kick ur a$$

We spend how much time and energy wiping and eventually down extremely hard bosses, to have n00bs having spent 5weeks slacking, in the same looking gear

Blizz should change the arena set models

Well not really, I am not comparing rare drops ... I am comparing getting items of the same value ! ( sunfury vs S1 Crossbow ) Same with merciless vs Tier 5. When S1 came out, most guilds were lucky to even kill moroes.

I am saying, say you need the chestpiece token for tier 5 vs the chestpiece from Merciless set, whats gonna take the you the longest to get ?
Whats it gonna cost you to get it ? You dont need pots and foods etc in arena / BG's. In PVE you do.

On our server they call the merciless / gladiator S1 epic gear items "Wellfare epic's". And I can fully understand why. Its easy to get fully pimped out in epic's with PVP gear.

I still stand by my statement, its not easier to level your character up with PVE gear than PVP gear.

My brother's pala is in a 5v5 team with 2400 rating. Check him out - Ector on Executus (EU).

He never comes on these forums though :<

I play a warriors as my main and go completely nuts when I can't land a hamstring/MS due to latency and have mostly given up on serious Arena till I get a better connection. 5v5 is at 1800 atm :P

2400 Rating is exceptionaly good!

Whats your 5v5 team name?
 
My brother (Ector) plays in Happy Pandas in the Reckoning Battlegroup in Europe. He plays at select time when the latency is in the 450-550 range, this is at night or Sunday/Saturdays.

My humble 5v5 team at 1800 is Beyond the Shadows, same battlegroup. Only been with them for a few days, like I said, I will wait for a new connection to start playing seriously again.
 
2v2 - 2250
3v3 - 2160
5v5 - 1920

not gonna make glad tho, thanks to my line being screwed for the last month and telkom refusing to fix :<
 
Currently Running at over 2k in my 5s team
My 3v3 team is doing OK, its hovering around 1800-1900.. Should push this for 2k soon enough
and 2s i just mess around in with really random combos, but im not really specced for 2v2. I hate speccing SL/SL
