AVG Backs down from "Flooding the internet"

Use Avira its good ;)

I am using that now... so far I have tried...

Avast = gave me three false positives in the first 24 hours, would not let me ignore... but would not delete or isolate either. POS.
BitDefender = program stopped working after 24 hours for no reason, and refused to load into memory anymore (on two different PCs).
ClamWin = is not recognised by Windows as a proper AV program. After 8 years of Windows XP, how hard is it to integrate your API into the system?

so, now trying Avira...

Well I hear the arguments about the nasty warning in the system tray when switching off link scanner in AVG console but I have disabled the addon on Firefox and it seems to no longer be pre fetching for me. If that is the case I cannot see that it is a big deal really...

In the setup panel if you right click on Linkscanner, there is an option to remove the notification that Linkscanner has been disabled from the system tray.

I have been using avg 8.0 ... no problems with it. bandwidth usage seems fine. I just disabled link scanner.

The problem with AVG is that this release is triggering so many "false positive" results.

Files that are not actually a threat are being flagged as a virus causing chaos out there for the less technical types.

Google this and you will see that webmasters and programmers alike are struggling to get AVG to recognise that their sites/files are in no way malicious.

I am now on day 10 trying to get them to update their releases to confirm my site is OK, but they haven't.

I have received emails from them confirming the false positve, but no fix. This hurts me as I have customers who simply say your site is infected, piss off":mad:

This is true, AVG 8 is now flagging almost all program cracks, keygens, game hacks, trainers, program patches and updates, joke programs, etc. without fail. And the option to "ignore" does not work, it keeps popping up over and over until you allow it to delete said programs.

Yep, I'm still waiting for a fix for my "malicious" cookies from my site:mad:

I fixed this by going into services and disabling avg watchdog. When you done applying you cracks keygens..etc(bad pirates) just enable watchdog again.
I do it all the time and remeber if your piratiroium come in zip or keygens remember switch watchdog off
