first - Has anyone tried this? I mean - having gone from the regular vanilla package, to this 'unshaped' package?
I realise that price-wise its totally insane (R500 = 4 gigs) but I'm curious about what speeds one can get with the unshaped..

Axxess themselves are totally cagey whenever I ask them if they're going to come up with a larger 'unshaped' package at any point.

Come to think of it, they're cagey about any questions involving what they're going to do in the next few months, once telkom pulls the plug on current pricings.

I asked about their November changes - and got told they couldn't say anything at all - then when I pointed out that come November, the rug IS going to be pulled from under us customers - got told again that nothing could be said. I pointed out that Axxess has already said this ( http://www.mybroadband.co.za/nephp/?m=show&id=531 )
and that this info is in the public domain now, and I could hear the D'OH!!! in the silence on the phoneline..

Hi LoneGunman,

Slightly off topic - by still refering to your post.
I would also like to know what Axxess is going to be doing once November hits. The article that you are reffering to was quite a surprise to me - particularly the quote about informing their customers of that they will be allowing the 'high-cap' accounts well into 2006.
How are they going to be able to do this if the pricing structure is going to change in November?

just to keep things clear and balanced - I'd be interested in the same info from the other main ISP's in this whole saga (of a price change coming) - so I'm not singling out Axxess for any extra pressure, I mention them specifically coz I'm a customer of theirs currently. So stop gloating if you're part of the other ISP's, I'm sure your customers will be asking similar questions soon :P

I presume same high-caps just at previous high prices.

Heh, that would be if we're lucky. With their new per gig billing we're going to be put back in the stone ages. They're talking of R50-R55 per gigabyte. Crazies.

One of the ISP's posted on the forums a week or two ago that Telkom had a little discussion with them when they started offering "non-standard" unshaped accounts. So they had to go back to just offering 4GB unshaped.
