i feel like such an idiot even asking this (i know how bad this will be, so no lecture needed) but can anyone recommend a decent dynamic dns company that
a) Supports Linux
b) Supports own .co.za domain names

cost is not a factor.
I was thinking of http://dynamic-dns.co.za but the site is down :/

also www.no-ip.com gentoo portage has support for both no-ip and dyndns update clients. I know both support linux :D I am currently loosing no-ip which is really great :D

I had plans to host SSL sessions on iBurst using a CNAME pointing to my No-IP.com hostname, but alas *sigh* the Burst-i really burst that bubble...

No-IP.com client works perfectly though :). I have been meaning to try DynDNS.org as well (for redundancy), but I haven't felt motivated to experiment with it.

Anything in particular caused problems?

dude wtf is that? you come here and you're all like "I wanted to do blah blah and STUPID EFFING WBS MESSED IT UP FOR ME" then when someone asks what caused that problem you're like "STUPID EFFING IBURST"

Could you provide technical details maybe, explain how they caused the problem etc etc.

My suspicion was confirmed last night - the Bryanston-BS antenna array was tilted up in January to cover a much larger area - who dunnit... Methinks you already know who dunnit ;)

I use dyndns.org with great success. Register any free domain with them and then add CNAME entries into your mydomain.co.za named config file. This way you still use your .co.za domain, but it resolves to your up-to-date dyndns domain.

or.. you could just rent a server or get a webhost package have a static IP and link your domains there.

*** i wish, make my life easier. but what the client wants the client gets and he wants to run his own server on an iburst from his house using dynamic dns.

wow, thats a little crazy, at best he's gonna have 384kbit upload, but like you say.. what the client wants the client gets
