Beware: Core Group, WeFix and the Apple 6 Battery Replacement Conundrum

A Big heads up for better future service: Forget iStore go to Digicape if you can.

If you are having genuine issues send a mail to Apple directly with a clear, calm, concise story with your contact details...Apple does listen.

I had a 13" MBPr with issues and guarantee almost up, bought from Digicape, Digicape diagnosed and repaired the isssue persisted.
Apple sent me a mail survey (note APPLE not Digicape or iStore/Core) ....was I satisfied ect....tick the box, then the last box was "comments" ...I wrote my sob story and hit Submit, thinking I had wasted my time.

A few days later a senior Digicape Tech manager called me...we spoke and all sorted. Apple had Digicape contact me!!!!!!
Digicape is great.
Core via iStore Canal Walk was not so for me, and more than thrice with issues...I will not go back to them.

Core is rubbish and yes it shouldn’t take 2 weeks to a month to replace a battery but you decided to take your device to an unauthorized replacement center, Core is not a fault here

Thanks for commenting but the point is not that I’m blaming Core for the current situation. My issue is the turnaround time initially communicated and secondly being lied to by WEFix about supplying an apparently Apple approved battery.

I only went to wefix because I can’t be without a phone for a month.

Core are a bunch of k#nts but honestly how can you expect them to replace the battery after wefix has bodged the job. You made the choice to use wefix too late after that.

Should have bought a cheapie 2hnd iPhone for the month core were supposedly going to have the phone for and the resold the cheapie afterwards or kept it as a spare. Actually a great idea would have been to buy another 6 and then have that phones battery replaced once yours was back, then you'd have a spare phone with new battery, win.

I think maybe read my post again?

Issue was Core’s turnaround time and wefix misleading me into buying an Apple “approved” battery.

I've done exactly this about my battery concerns so would be nice if the same happens.

I'm so invested in Apple tech I'm now forced to upgrade my phone to an 8

No you arnt, you can find really nice 2nd hand deals here or on carb, Ive been eyeing a few and the prices are good.

This applies to ANY manufacturer who maintains a warranty it’s right there in their terms and conditions and with good reason.

However I agree Core is rubbish.

Digicape wanted me to come in for the diagnosis and then they would order the battery and I can come back for fitment.

My objection to two round trips of 80km later they suddenly changed their tune that in fact diagnostics can be done remotely.

So a phone call and few days later battery was fitted within 20 minutes.

However I'm still not happy with it as the battery health app doesn't detect it.

Where do you find this battery health menu?

You can try coconut battery via a macbook then all you do is plug it in.

You could ask a friend or co-worker.

Im sure most people who have iPhones have mac's too.

Actually most don’t, the sales figures tell us that quite plainly.

And I have access to Macs it’s just a bit silly going that far when I can just get the data directly from the phone with a few taps.

Coconut doesn’t do anything different to the Apps that can access the same raw data.

My father took his iphone to an istore for a battery replacement.

They told him it will be shipped to the USA and will take 7 working days, which to me sounds to good to be true?

The shipping it to the USA or the 7 days?

I suspect he misunderstood and they meant the battery would be shipped from the USA which might in fact be true.

Not that the phone would be shipped to the USA. We have the certified reseller network here so that would just be utterly daft.
