Bluetooth Car-kits

Morning all,

Driving my wife's BMW lately, with the integrated Bluetooth car-kit, I really got spoiled, so I want to install one in the Landy. I have had a look at the Parrot units, and they seem quite nice. Can anyone recommend a system/installer?

Do these need to be fed cream crackers every so often? :D

Do they parrot everything you say? :D

Is it a dead, or live parrot? :D :D

Think you can ask one of the various shops that do car alarm/aircon installations to do it for you.
 
I know Sony Ericsson had a nice one, that simply clicks onto the flap-mirror thingie watchamacallit :>

I have a question, does it have to connect to car radio speakers or can you get ones that are easy to install and have their own speaker?

You do get both, but the Parrot ones they install into the speakers (which I prefer).

I am looking at the Parrot 3400 LS-GPS unit (it is going into the Landy), as it has a GPS aerial as well, which will work with my HTC TyTN to use as a GPS. Unit + installation = ± R3800, but I will still get that down :D
 
Preferably get the one that can mute the car's radio when there's an incoming call - otherwise you'll have to switch the radio off every time some telemarketer phones.
 
I installed the SonyEricsson bluetooth carkit at Audio Vision & Sound in Centurion. I bought the carkit at the Vodacom shop in Highveld Centre and they gave me a voucher for the installation. Price was R2500 for carkit + installation. The guys were really good and when a call comes in, the radio mutes, and 'PHONE' shows on the radio's display. (They connected it to my car speakers.)

Considering the fines Metro Cops dish out when they catch you talking on your mobile nowadays, it's really worth it + you're attention is still on the road whilst talking to someone. Also wise for potential smash-and-grab situations at traffic lights.

*Oh, my Motorola V3 Razr works just as well with the SE kit - you can even hear the sound on the speakers when you're scrolling the V3's phone book. :)

hmm, I still have a Parrot kit lying at home. Had it removed from a previous car , , got used to "earpiece" bluetooth and never had it installed again. I'll go dig it up if someone's interested. Same goes for the older Nokia cradle (Cark something, fits 6210, etc) .

Decided to go with the Parrot 4300 GPS unit ... The GPS receiver is compatible with my HTC TyTN, so that should be quite nice

I sell and install the entire Parrot Range. The CK3000 evo. is R1600, the CK3100 is R2000 (highly recomended), the CK3200LS R2400 and the one you are looking for, the CK3400 is R2800 excluding the maps.

I have the Parrot CK3100. So does the wife, father-in-law, etc,etc. They're fantastic.
