Board Game: Catan - Trade Build Settle

I have been looking for a new board game. My gaming preference has always been toward things like civilization, economics and strategy. Catan seems like it may be an appropriate board game to purchase.

While it all looks good on the box and reviews, I don't know anyone who has it or played it (which probably doesn't say much for my social life outside of the internet ).

Anyone got or played it? Your thoughts?

try settlers with the seaferes expansion, or even ticket to ride is quiet a fun one

Ah, Dominion is brilliant! And Dixit is hilarious. I can definitely see how booze will help you along in that game.

Have you tried Takealot? They may still stock the older ones but I expect them to disappear quite quickly.

Edit: Nope, no luck. There is a boardgame store at Doornkloof Mall in Centurion that may be able to help you.

Thanks Ill see if i can check out the store at Doornkloof,but yeah as some people have said getting the expansions can really rack up the prices quickly and there is no way im paying for the inflated prices for the same game with ''reprinted" tiles. The family loves the game though after playing it a few times with friends and I still want to try get the 4th edition versions.
